Hosting

What are the responsibilities of a host when two guests start fighting in front of other guests? Does it matter if one of them is a closer friend than the other?

The host should step in to either end the fight or move the fight to a less public location.

Some of it may depend on what the fight is about I suppose and whether it is "obvious" that one person is right. (ie: The Steelers went to the superbowl last year. It's rather easy to determine who's right *grins*)

I would definitely say it dosen't matter if you are 'closer' to one person, if you are friends with both. (example, I bring a boyfriend you've never met (I'm right he's wrong) versus Me and Kathy or Me and Megan).

I would say the best thing is to just STAY OUT OF IT as much as possible. Kathy is right to try to move the arguement somewhere else gently, but try not to get yourself involved.

What if the person you know less is the one who's right? Well, not right, but the one you know better is the one who crossed the line you don't cross?

I'm a leader only when I feel it is necessary. My personality is that of the XO, the platoon sergeant. I can hack the details, and keep things running, but there has to be someone to step in and take the occaisional hard one, or I'm lost.
