Another one bites the dust

Last night Caltrax, the familiar of the party wizard, died a rather messy death. There is strong evidence that our party now has a kamikaze wizard as a result.

That makes one PC and one party NPC that have died in this dungeon, two PC's and one party NPC that have been separated from the party with poor odds of getting them back alive (though we lucked out on all three), plus several close calls. We still haven't hit the dragon that is flying around out there somewhere, and it might not be the "big bad" of this dungeon. I'm starting to wonder if we're going to make it out of here alive...

Well I wouldn't want to have to place a bet on a fight between the socially conscious roper and the dragon, that's for sure. But don't worry, I'm sure the dragon will be a pushover. After all, the last time I ran this adventure, It got taken out by a badger. True two of the three spell on the badger were applied incorrectly, and true it started the fight by rolling two criticals in a row. But that couldn't have had that much effect could it?

In this corner, size catagory large at least, a dragon.

In this corner, an Enlarged Half-Celestial Bull's Strengthed Bear's Enduranced Cat's Graced Dire Badger with a Stone of Good Luck...

As I recall, one of the mis-applied spells was a max-rolled bull strength, with the plus added directly to damage, rather than to strength. I can't remember what the other mistake was, but it was equally bad. After the fight, I went over the rules with person running the badger-familiar, and it got a drastic power reduction.

Hey, it could be worse. One of my players back in Pennsylvania once summoned a "Giant Eagle" and had a large building land in front of him.
